The scholarly collection "SCIENTIFIC HERALD OF TCHAIKOVSKY NATIONAL MUSIC ACADEMY OF UKRAINE" ensures the long-term digital preservation of published materials in order to guarantee their accessibility, integrity, and reproducibility in the event of technical failures, platform migration, or unavailability of the main website.
General provisions
Long-term digital preservation is an integral part of the collection’s editorial policy and applies to materials published on the collection’s electronic platform.
The collection operates on Open Journal Systems (OJS) 3.2.1.2 and uses the long-term preservation mechanism JASPER / PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). PKP states that PKP PN provides digital preservation services to journals on OJS 3.1.2 or later that have an ISSN and have published at least one article.
What is preserved
The following are transferred to the long-term digital preservation system:
Preservation mechanism
The collection uses the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) as a distributed long-term digital preservation mechanism for content. PKP PN is built on LOCKSS technology and is intended to preserve journals operating on the OJS platform. Collection registration in PKP PN is carried out via the relevant OJS platform mechanism after agreeing to the preservation terms.
The collection uses this route within the JASPER (JournAlS are Preserved forevER) initiative, aimed at supporting the long-term preservation of open-access collections.
Content availability
In the event of temporary or prolonged unavailability of the collection’s main website, access to published materials should be ensured through long-term digital preservation mechanisms in accordance with the rules of the PKP Preservation Network. PKP explicitly indicates that the purpose of PKP PN is to preserve access to a collection even if the website ceases to operate.
Cases where partial correction is possible instead of retraction
If the problem concerns a limited part of the publication and can be remedied without distorting the scholarly result, the editorial office may apply a correction. If the violation is significant or systemic, a retraction is applied.
Final provisions
A decision on correction, expression of concern, or retraction is made by the collection’s editorial office on the basis of verified facts, the parties’ explanations, and relevant editorial policies. All procedures are carried out with due regard for confidentiality and the principles of fair consideration.
The journal adheres to the open access principles and supports the dissemination of research through institutional repositories. Authors are permitted to deposit the full text of their published articles in the university’s repository immediately after publication. The deposited version must correspond to the final published version and include full bibliographic metadata, as well as a reference and link to the official version on the journal’s website. This policy ensures wide accessibility, long-term preservation, and increased visibility of scholarly outputs.
