Abstract

Relevance of the study. The problem of universal creative personality has been researched little and superficially. Scientists state this phenomenon, but do not explain it. Scientific novelty. Chosen direction of research was used as a tool for musicology for the first time.

Main objective of the study is to determine the role of individual activity style in the process of formation and development of K. Stetsenkoʼs universal creative personality.

Methodology. The author has studied each of K. Stetsenkoʼs activities and the relationships between them. She considered the dynamics of the artistʼs motivational sphere and determined the type of his creative universalism. The scientist comprehended the concept of style in relation to the phenomenon of personality and concluded that style is a system of personality activities. The author considered the role of individual activity style in K. Stetsenkoʼs creativity.

Results and conclusions. The author researched individual style as a factor of creative universalism of the famous Ukrainian composer, conductor, teacher, musicologist, public figure Kyrylo Stetsenko. She defined the universal creative personality, outlined the methodology of her research and substantiated the phenomenon of individual activity style. The researcher described the leading activities of K. Stetsenko (performance, composition, public activity) and ancillary activities (pedagogy, musicology). She attributed the artistʼs creative personality to the type of universal-public figure. The author defined the vector of creative development of the musician (from performance to public activity as the dominant of his individual activity style). She observed the connections between K. Stetsenkoʼs creative activities. The researcher proved that they constitute the quintessence of the individual activity style of the artist. The analysis of the correlation between all kinds of musicianʼs activity in different periods made possible to determine the turning points of his creative biography and to periodize the artistʼs creativity: performing period (1899‒1903), synthetically-integrative period (1904‒1909), composer period (1910−1916) and period of the musicpublic activity (1917‒1922). The author stated that individual style as a unity of the system of activities is a unifying tool for all kinds of creative activity of the musician. Thus, K. Stetsenkoʼs individual style of activity is determined by three factors ‒ the national character of creativity, the priority of spiritual genres and the subordination of community interests.

Significance of results makes it possible to clarify the structure of the phenomenon of creative universalism, its typological features, the dynamics and nature of the evolution of universal K. Stetsenkoʼs creative personality and the essence of his individual activity style.
